This year’s event started with a “Spottersday” on Friday for rehearsals at nearby Kleine Brogel Airbase. It was pretty quiet for most of the day, but the local Vipers were friendly enough to do several touch and goes. Belgian display pilot “Vrieske” also made his return after the unexpected disbandment of the Belgian Air Force demo team last year.
This is such a beautiful jet… French Air Force Rafale Demo, flown by Captain Jean-Brice “Mimouss” Millet of Escadron de Transformation Rafale 3/4 Aquitaine.
This plane is both a tail dragger as well as a tricycle. Lovely little bird, noisy as hell though… Fouga Magister jet trainer in the colors of the Belgian Air Force demo team the Red Devils.
Some more shots of the sunset airshow on Saturday night.
The Swedish UH-60 Blackhawk gave a really good show. Never seen a Blackhawk demo routine before.
Plenty of flare action as well.
And my favorite, the French Air Force Rafale.
I must say, following jets with an 800 mm lens, how ever light it is, didn’t come easy…
Good stuff as usual Roger.
Thanks Rob. I was really rusty. I didn’t do any shooting for more than two years. I tried to put a 1.4 converter on the 200-800 (all rented) and I was lost. Couldn’t pan, camera wouldn’t focus (using the wrong settings), it was comical
Once I got the settings right and hit the groove again it was a lot of fun again. Definitely will be doing more shooting in the near future.
Oof that looks tough.
Some more shots of the Saturday evening sunset show. The Finish Hornet was thrown around pretty good by their demo pilot.
