The A-7 was developed during the early 1960s as replacement for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Its design was derived from the Vought F-8 Crusader; in comparison with the F-8, the A-7 is both smaller and restricted to subsonic speeds, its airframe being simpler and cheaper to produce. Following a competitive bid by Vought in response to the United States Navy's (...
Gotta have this little guy on here. Just love this cold warrior. Sadly never saw an active US Navy version, but managed to see some ANG units on deployment in Europe in the 80’s and a couple of Greek ones later on.

The above A model was accompanied by a family model - a TA-7C 156753. Love the SEA camo on those birds.

So cool. That SEA camouflage seems perfect for the Greek countryside. Glad you caught them in their natural habitat

Twice, but briefly that time, not sure if we were moved on that time or the weather was bad, or we had to get somewhere but it was very brief. Also called at Spang, again briefly where we saw a Colorado Corsair on the runway. I think the weather was bad the whole time we were in Germany!
