Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II

Ha, I saw there was no topic for the plane that will rule all skies in grey the coming decade.

Here’s one of those transformer variants at RIAT in 2016.

To be fair, the f-35 has grown on me somewhat. My only issue with the jet is photography… You can get great images but due to its stealth body, it always looks over smooth and lacks detail in photos. Just my opinion but for that reasons i always find it a bit dull to photograph.

Here’s AF01, the first production F-35A still on test duties at Edwards around 10 years ago (already!), so far the most interesting F-35 I’ve shot, and I haven’t photographed many.

In the uk, they are all plain grey… Dull🤣.

Yep Darren, I can’t get excited by the prospect of shooting them, except possibly quick climb Friday’s at Lakenheath for some action shots.

Here’s a Aussie one at Luke when they first got them around 10 years ago, still grey!

Lakenheath is a great base to visit. Never done a quick climb friday there but visited many times.
Sorry for the delay replying. Im on holiday in the lake district hoping to get some low flying action :crossed_fingers:

Nice Vapes! And welcome aboard!

Thanks! The last time we talked was when we met at McClean in Sacramento to see the F-14D come in.

Lovely shot Roel. The bird is kinda growing on me. Funny how that works. Also how the Viper now looks really old…

A few selections of the F-35A and F-35C. I’ve yet to see the B-model fly.

That’s a nice collection of action, @RobGRR

Yet to see a F-35C but for me it’s the only good looking variant with the bigger wings and beefy landing gear. Well captured.

Thanks Kevin. The C is much more visually appealing, I hope you get to shoot one (or a bunch) soon.

Here’s the first RAF Lightning II, ZM135 at Edwards in 2015, don’t think this one will ever see the UK?
