Any Midwest members remember a youngster named Sam Larson from the original site? When he grew up, he moved from photographing jets to flying them - and now he’s finishing his second year as the F-22 demo team’s display pilot. Here he is making light of things (and lots of noise, plus a bit of vapour) at Abbotsford this past summer.
That’s amazing! I think Mike went from shooting helos to flying them, right?
I believe so, but @TonyZ would know best?
No. Rotor (Mike) went into the army as a H-60 wrench turner. Dod some time in the sand boxes and got out after a few years. He is currently flying for a helicopter company in the Pacific Northwest. He got married last year (she also flys helicopters for a living.). I was honored to perform the ceremony for them.
A couple of 95th FS F-22s on TDY to Lakenheath from Tyndall in 2016, the 95th are now resurrected with F-35As.
What a vapor machine. Beautiful shots Dariusz.
The elusive bearded Raptor. Blink and you’ll miss him… Here in the typical British over RAF Fairford, back in 2016.
That looks great. Seems you got some good weather.
