Lockheed F-117A 'Stealth Fighter'

Tucked away in a hangar on the ANG side of McConnell during a base visit in Sept 1992 was this F-117A serial 791, still marked as the 417FS commanders jet but with its new ‘HO’ code after moving to Holloman. This was the first F-117A I saw in the wild so to speak and a great surprise!

My only shot of a Tonopah coded F-117, at Mildenhall Air Fete.

Here’s one from back in 2006 landing at Nellis AFB. Really bad weather at the show that year… brrrr…

Always been fascinated by this aircraft, appears to change shape depending on the angle it’s viewed at.

Another few from the “Silver Stealth” 25th anniversary events in Oct 2006.

That Silver Stealth event was epic. So glad you and Tyson were there to cover it.

We so nearly didn’t due to missing our connection in Houston, squeeezed in on standby on the only other flight that day, getting there too late for the nightshoot Rich had organised but luckily in time for the main event the next day. Thought immigration were going to stop me entering as well, one and only time I felt like they weren’t going to believe why I’m visiting.

Oh man that cockpit shot!

Looks a bit pixelated? Weird as I just copied it over from my cropped files as usual.

I’ve noticed that the embedded images don’t come through with the best resolution but if you click on them then the image looks better. I’m sure Roger can explain what the difference is!

You’re correct. I’m playing with the layout of the forum software and it’s not going as planned (what else is new). The images in a post are rendered too small. I’m figuring out on how to fix this… when you click on them they’ll show the correct resolution.

That vertical shot is actually bigger on the forum than when you click on it.

No prizes for guessing where this was shot!
