GLV 5 - Low Flying Area - The Netherlands

After my morning visit at Volkel Air Base, I went for a nice walk through a nearby heath. It’s also a Army exercise terrain and a low flying area for helicopters, known as GLV-5.

Two Chinooks were playing around, practicing landing in brownout conditions (a bit too close for comfort) and in small areas between the woods. Very cool to see up close.

Yeah! And to think I haven’t done this before. It’s all within half an hour drive, so I will be doing this more often, as a nice moment of zen :slight_smile:
