Fleiger Flab

As we spent a couple of weeks in Switzerland, it would just be rude not to visit Fleiger Flab Swiss air force museum.

Base in Dübendorf just outside Zurich, this museum blew me away with how its exhibits are displayed.

I will start with a couple then just add to the post as and when I edit them.

First off, a great example of an f5 Tiger ll

Then a great diorama with a vampire undergoing an engine change

This is a full size vampire and not a scale model incase anyone wondered

That is an amazing museum. Great collection and exhibit.

So different from the uk Roger, it terms of the way things are displayed. . TBH I wasn’t expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised

This was a very interesting find at Fleiger Flab. It’s a P-16 MK lll. A Swiss built ground attack fighter. A prototype developed by Flug- und Fahrzeugwerke Altenrhein (FFA).

You can clearly see design features from many other classic Cold War jets. Its size was quite surprising too

Display jet?

Darren

Yeah. Patrouille de Suisse used to fly with Hunters. I still have some slides featuring them somewhere. Back in the early nineties at RIAT.

That’s right, they did.

Here you go Roger, although I don’t think this was a display jet
