I check in here most days but it’s very quiet in general. It kind of deters me from posting in one respect as I know my posts aren’t really getting seen. I’ve done a few museums as always but not got to any air bases for a couple of months. I’m in Switzerland to visit meirengen for two weeks end of April so plenty to come from me
I’ll post the odd old photo and slide scan as usual to try to keep the forum ticking over but there wont be anything new. I was hoping the new FC might get a community going again but i guess social media is still dominant.
Appreciate both of you chiming in. It’s a community of three now and some others popping in now and then.
A community doesn’t develop out of nothing. When I first started FC back in the day, I spent a lot of time posting, promoting, asking photographers to contribute, writing and of course attending events and airfields. None of that is happening now, resulting in nobody knowing about FC, no one caring and nothing really evolving.
And I’m fine with that. We’ll see if I can spend more time on it this year, but with the way work is going, I don’t see that really happening for now.
I haven’t had a camera in my hands or walked a flightline since my beloved base, NAS JRB Willow Grove, Pa., shut down in 2010. Use to go to NAS Oceana twice a year and shoot the ramp. Andrews AFB Thursday and Friday before the airshow to shoot. Haven’t been to Oceana since the Tomcat Sunset, just not the same. My 20 years in the USAF took me to some great bases and I was fortunate to have been able to do a lot of shooting. I miss those days but, I’m very glad I had the opportunity to do it.
I still have all my gear but, it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten how to even use it anymore

how about rekindling your passion for aviation photography, Steve. I’m sure once you got back to a fence line, you would soon be hooked again. once an AV Geek, always an AV Geek.
