A recent visitor to North Island showing the new bolt-on refueling system. The A-10 isn’t certified to refuel from the KC-46 yet, so the traditional boom system limited them to just KC-135s. Therefore, a removable probe (and drogue) system has been devised so they can refuel from a wider array of tankers including KC-130s (more speed appropriate) and allied tankers.
