Sweet! Is that from your back porch, @TonyZ ?

Not quite…but close. There is a property for sale on that ridge line…When I win the lottery I am buying it and putting up a big checkerboard with a sign that says “PHOTOS HERE! $5.00”

A shot from 20 years ago I might’ve put up on FenceCheck but oddly a pilot just asked me for this one just a few days ago! Shot at China Lake October 2004. Seems there’s some sort of deja vu going on here…

Sweet shockwave there!

Visited Hawaii in 2015 for an article on the biannual RIMPAC exercise for Combat Aircraft magazine, we had a Canadian PAO assigned to us for assistance which meant opportunities to fly with the RCAF assets, including the CC-150 Polaris tanker at Hickam to support Canadian CF-18s and US Navy aircraft off the Ronald Reagan. First time they scheduled us on a flight it soon became clear it was a night tanker mission, tough for photos! So we asked to try again on the next day flight which was approved. All we knew was it would be for aircraft off the Reagan whenever they required fuel. Once up in the track we were told the fighters were approaching and strained our necks looking back to see what was closing on us. I was very pleased to see a pair of VF-2 F/A-18Fs including the #100 jet in full colour. We also had a pair of VFA-137 F/A-18Es a bit later on and a great flight back at sunset.
