Recently learned they do a f to z converter to save swapping all your glass out. Wife nearly bought me on at RIAT but I told her to hang fire until I did more research. I’ve no doubt, the day will eventually arrive when I do have to start considering the next step…just the same as it was from film to digital. But for now, I’m still happy and gear lust free.

Well, I have finally succumbed to temptation. I went and bought a Nikon z6ii. The z6ii has been out a while now but that allows to get a pro body mirrorless for sensible money. I didn’t want to swap out all my lenses yet so I also bought a ftz adapter so I can mount my f mount lenses. This seemed the sensible option at this early stage to see how I’m going to get on with it.
So, so far the only thing I have to get used to is the auto focus modes, it’s slightly different on a mirrorless than a dslr.
I Love the electronic viewfinder, adjusting settings gives live results ( if that makes sense), the auto tracking eye detection I found is incredibly good.
The camera build quality is very good also
First impressions are very positive. I still love my dslr and will still use it but it’s now time to move forward.

I’m still eyeing a Canon R6 MKII - but they don’t come down in price that much. Was hoping they would, with the MKIII being out for a while… Second hand they’re still a bit pricey as well…
Tbh Roger, I didn’t want to be much over £1000 as I wasn’t sure I would take to mirrorless. The z6ii seemed like a great option. time will tell …
