Grumman F-14 Tomcat

Sorry just Czech Mig-23s and Slovak Mig-29s, think it was a Mig-29 that nearly took peoples heads off!

From a visit to Miramar in the mid-90s, a VF-213 Tomcat when they were a west coast squadron. Wish I’d pushed for more visits when it was “Fightertown”.

Some more shots from NAS Oceana back in the day. Featuring birds from VF-213 and VF-101.

Guess the last ones flying are blown to smithereens by now… Here’s one coming in fast in some really murky skies back in 2005. Last demo weekend at Oceana.

My first post here after quietly lurking for the past years. I have been a member of the old Fence Check ever since 2006 though. Happy there is a Fence Check around again. Well … there is not too much I can contribute to the forum as I started spotting only in about 2013 and all the shots before that are hardly worth showing. I hesitated posting images so far because I pretty much can’t compete with what has been shown in all the thread so far. However the occassion might warrant posting some of te images I was able to catch not too long ago. Many American members might be glad but I confess reading the news that now quite possibly all the remaining airworthy F-14s have been destroyed on the ground by Israeli strikes as of March 8th 2026 made me shed a tear. Regardless of the dress she wore, she was just a gorgeous gal … so … Farewell Tomcat I guess … one more time; this time it seems to be the “final final”?!

Welcome once again. Some great tomcat photos there. It’s always nice to see these iconic jets.
