We now go to the rehearsal portion of the "Fry"day spottersday. First up the Saab Gripen of the Swedish Air Force. I had a hard time shooting this demo, I didn’t seem to get a good angle on the plane, and I guess the 800mm was too much for me. Like I said, as the day went on I got better though.

Next up was my favorite. The F-4 Phantom II of the Hellenic Air Force. With some much needed in your face burners… as if the day wasn’t hot enough!

My favorite angle of the A-4 Skyhawk…

Lovely little planes, those Scooters, and we’re lucky they’re still flying around in Europe.

Here’s a photo dump of my favorite. This plane alone made the whole ordeal worth it on "Fry"day…

And the Greek phantom aircrew are so accommodating of fans.

Loving all these photos :+1:t2:

Some more demo’s and a Dutch F-35 arrival from the rehearsal day. Love the Greek new F-16V, but they could be a bit more aggressive with their new toy.

Well, on Sunday I went back to Florennes and stood outside, north of the base. @roelreijne told me where to go and it was a great spot, with the air show performers flying all around you. I met some friendly fellow photographers and had a great time. The light was iffy, but it was just great to see the planes from a different perspective.

Found a better frame of this pass. Challenging light, but sweet to witness. Friday night, after giving up waiting for the bus, several F-16’s, and F-35 and a Spitfire took off for some unique formation passes, marking the 80th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force.

I really liked the routine of the Croatian Wings of Storm, flying their PC-9M’s in some nice formations.

Standing to the north of the show line, oposite the crowd line, was a really nice experience at this field. You’re basically standing in the middle of all the action, with the demo planes flying all around you. Trees might get in the way, but all the action around you gives you a really nice new perspective on how such a demo is flown. And you still might end up with the same old same old, like this one.

But you sometimes do get closer, for instance to see what the pilots are actually looking at while flying in formation.
